(95) بَابُ إِيجَابِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَنَفْيِ الصَّلَاةِ بِغَيْرِ قِرَاءَتِهَا.
Chapter 95: Obligation to recite Al-Fatihah in prayer and invalidity of prayer without it
Hadith 488
نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لا يَقْرَأُ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " . هَذَا حَدِيثُ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ، وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ : يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ، وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ وَعَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ : عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ رِوَايَةً ، وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ : لا صَلاةَ إِلا بِقِرَاءَةِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "The prayer of that person is not valid who does not recite Surah Al-Fatihah." This is the narration of Makhzumi. Hasan bin Muhammad, in his narration, says that Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this hadith as marfu’ from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ahmad and Abdul Jabbar narrate from Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) with « عن ». Whereas in the narration of Muhammad bin Al-Waleed, it is stated: "There is no prayer without the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah."
