Hadith 472
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) used to recite this supplication « اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أّعُوذُ بِكَ مِن الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ، وَنَفْخِهِ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ »: "O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the accursed Satan, from his arrogance and pride, from his whisperings, and from his magic and sorcery." He (Ibn Mas'ud) says that « هَمْزِهِ » refers to his whisperings or madness. « نَفْثِهِ » refers to poetry. And « نَفْخِهِ » refers to arrogance and pride.
Allah Almighty says: "So when you recite the Qur'an, seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan."
