2 hadith
Hadith 450
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was an Ansari man whose house was the farthest in Madinah (from Masjid Nabawi), yet he never missed the congregational prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). (Due to his difficulty) I felt sorry for him. So I said to him, "O so-and-so, if you buy a donkey (it would be much better for you), it will protect you from the scorching hot ground, save you from stumbling, and protect you from the earth's insects and pests." He replied, "By Allah, I do not wish that my house should be adjacent to the house of Muhammad (peace be upon him)." He says, "This was hard for me to accept until I went to the Noble Messenger (peace be upon him) and mentioned this to him." He says, "So the Prophet (peace be upon him) called him and asked him about it, and he replied in the same way and said that he hoped for reward in walking to the mosque." So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him, 'Indeed, you will get the reward for which you have hoped.'"

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that some land near the Prophet’s Mosque became vacant, so the Banu Salamah intended to move closer to the mosque. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was informed of their intention, he said: “O Banu Salamah, have you intended to move closer to the mosque?” They replied, “Yes.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Banu Salamah, remain in your homes; your footsteps are recorded.” (That is, the reward for walking to the mosque is written.) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this three times. I have explained the complete chapter on walking towards the mosques in the Book of Imamah.
