Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he (one night) slept at the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He says that (in the morning) when the mu’adhdhin came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Prophet (peace be upon him) set out for prayer reciting this supplication « اللَٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ فِي لِسَانِىْ نُورًا, وَاجْعَلْ فِي سَمْعِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ فِي بَصَرِي نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ خَلْفِيْ نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ أَمَامِيْ نُورًا، وَاجْعَلْ مِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا، اللَّهُمَّ عَظِّمْ لِىْ نُوْرًا »: “O Allah, place light in my heart, and light in my tongue, and light in my hearing, and light in my sight. Place light before me, light above me, and light beneath me. O Allah, make light great for me.” Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that my heart is not satisfied with this chain of narration, because Habib bin Abi Thabit is a mudallis, and I do not know whether Habib heard this narration from Muhammad bin Ali or not. Then I reflected (on the narrations) and (found that) Abu Awanah narrates this hadith from Habib bin Abi Thabit through Husayn, and he says « حدثني محمد بن علي »: “Muhammad bin Ali narrated this hadith to me” (i.e., the mudallis has explicitly stated his hearing).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that I spent the night at the house of my maternal aunt, Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), then he narrated the complete hadith. In the chain of this hadith, Muhammad bin Ali has clarified his hearing.
