(46) بَابُ الِاسْتِهَامِ عَلَى الْأَذَانِ إِذَا تَشَاجَرَ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ
Chapter 46: Drawing lots for the adhan if people dispute over it
Hadith 391
نا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنَّ مَالِكًا ، أَخْبَرَهُ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، نا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، نا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِي الأَذَانِ وَالصَّفِّ الأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَجِدُوا إِلا أَنْ يَسْتَهِمُوا عَلَيْهِ ، لاسْتَهَمُوا عَلَيْهِ " . هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ . نا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَحْمَدِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If people knew what reward and virtue there is in calling the Adhan and performing prayer in the first row, and they found no way except to draw lots, then they would draw lots for it." This is the hadith of Yahya bin Hakim. Utbah bin Abdullah Yahmadi says that I recited this hadith from Sumi to Imam Malik.
