Chapter 28: Dislike of calling Isha prayer "Atama"
Hadith 349
نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمُ الأَعْرَابُ عَلَى اسْمِ صَلاتِكُمْ ، إِنَّهُمْ يُعْتِمُونَ عَلَى الإِبِلِ ، إِنَّهَا صَلاةُ الْعِشَاءِ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The Bedouins should never prevail over you regarding the name of your prayer. Indeed, they used to delay (the prayer) because of milking their camels (and therefore called 'Isha prayer 'Atamah). Indeed, it is the 'Isha prayer."
