Hadith 316
Hazrat Ma’dan bin Abi Talhah Ya’mari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I met the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), so I requested him, “Tell me of a deed by which Allah will benefit me, or admit me into Paradise.” He says that three times (despite my asking), he did not give me any answer. Then he turned towards me and said, “Perform prostrations (sajdah), for indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: ‘Whenever a person performs a prostration for the sake of Allah, Allah raises him one degree by means of that prostration and forgives one of his mistakes.’” Abu ‘Ammar says that Waleed pronounced “sajdah” with a fathah (zabar) on the letter “seen” in his narration.
