جماع أبواب فضول التطهير والاستحباب من غير إيجابChapters on Recommended Purifications
(169) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ الْوُضُوءَ الَّذِي أُمِرَ بِهِ الْجُنُبُ لِلْأَكْلِ كَوُضُوءِ الصَّلَاةِ سَوَاءً.
Chapter 169: Evidence that the ablution ordered for one in major impurity before eating is like prayer ablution
Hadith 217
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْوَرَّاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْجُنُبِ ، هَلْ يَأْكُلُ أَوْ يَنَامُ ؟ قَالَ : " إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاةِ "
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub): Can he eat something or can he sleep? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "(Yes,) when he performs ablution like the ablution for prayer."
