Hadith 199
Hazrat Ubaid bin Juraij (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that it was said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), "We have seen you doing an act which we have not seen anyone else doing." He asked, "What is that?" They replied, "We have seen you wearing these Sabti shoes." He said, "Indeed, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing these shoes, performing ablution in them, and wiping over them." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas and Aws bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with them) is also in this chapter.
Those scholars have erred in taking evidence from this, who have deemed it permissible to wipe over shoes in the ablution that becomes obligatory due to hadath.
