Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) wiped over the leather socks (khuffs).
Hadith 183
Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to wipe over the leather socks. Abdullah bin Saeed says that « حدثني زائدة » (that is, in his narration, instead of "from," he has explicitly mentioned hearing).
Hadith 184
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he saw Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) wiping over his leather socks, so (Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) said, “Do you do such an act?” Then both of them went together to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), “Give a verdict to my nephew regarding wiping over leather socks.” So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “We used to wipe over our leather socks while being with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and we did not see any harm in it.” So Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked, “Even if he comes after relieving himself from the toilet, can he still wipe over the leather socks?” (Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “Yes.”
