Hadith 134
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ . ح وَنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مِسْعَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ كِلاهُمَا ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ : " بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَبْدَأُ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ ؟ قَالَتْ : بِالسِّوَاكِ " . وَقَالَ يُوسُفُ : إِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ
Hazrat Shurayh narrates that I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "When the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) would enter the house, what would he begin with?" She replied, "With the miswak." In Yusuf's narration, the words are « اِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ » "When you would enter your house."
وَإِنَّمَا بَدَأْنَا بِذِكْرِ السِّوَاكِ قَبْلَ صِفَةِ الْوُضُوءِ لِبَدْءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهِ قَبْلَ الْوُضُوءِ عِنْدَ دُخُولِ مَنْزِلِهِ.
We have begun with the mention of the miswak, before describing the manner of ablution, because the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) would begin with the miswak before performing ablution when entering his house.
