(45) بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي الْبَوْلِ قَائِمًا
Chapter 45: Permission to urinate standing
Hadith 61
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ كِلاهُمَا ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ وَهُوَ الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَتَى سُبَاطَةَ قَوْمٍ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a garbage dump (a heap of refuse), and he stood and urinated. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks.
Hadith 62
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، أَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ يَبُولُ قَائِمًا ، فَإِنَّهُ تُحُدِّثَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَقَالَ : " قَدْ رَأَيْتُ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي فَعَلَهُ "
Abu Hazim narrates that I saw Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) urinating while standing. After finishing, he explained the reason for his action by saying that he had seen someone better than himself do this (i.e., the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him).
