(41) بَابُ التَّحَفُّظِ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ كَيْ لَا يُصِيبَ الْبَدَنَ وَالثِّيَابَ، وَالتَّغْلِيظُ فِي تَرْكِ غَسْلِهِ إِذَا أَصَابَ الْبَدَنَ أَوِ الثِّيَابَ
Chapter 41: Caution against urine touching body or clothes, and sternness in neglecting to wash it
Hadith 55
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحَائِطٍ مِنْ حِيطَانِ مَكَّةَ ، أَوِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ إِنْسَانَيْنِ يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي قُبُورِهِمَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُعَذَّبَانِ ، وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي كَبِيرٍ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " بَلَى ، كَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا لا يَسْتَتِرُ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ ، وَكَانَ الآخَرُ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ " ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِجَرِيدَةٍ فَكَسَرَهَا كَسْرَتَيْنِ ، فَوَضَعَ عَلَى كُلِّ قَبْرٍ مِنْهُمَا كَسْرَةً ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : لِمَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " لَعَلَّهُ يُخَفِّفُ عَنْهُمَا مَا لَمْ تَيْبَسَا أَوْ إِلَى أَنْ يَيْبَسَا " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a garden from among the gardens of Makkah Mukarramah or Madinah Munawwarah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voices of two people who were being punished in their graves. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are being punished, and they are not being punished for a major sin." Then he said: "Why not (rather, they are being punished for a major sin)? One of them did not protect himself from his urine, and the other used to carry tales (gossip)." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a date palm branch, split it into two parts, and placed one piece on each grave. He was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, why did you do this?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps their punishment will be lessened as long as these branches do not dry."
Hadith 56
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يُحَدِّثُ : عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَبْرَيْنِ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by two graves, then narrated as in the previous hadith.
