Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah
كتاب: الوضوءBook of Wudu (Ablution)
بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ تَطْوِيلِ التَّحْجِيلِ بِغَسْلِ الْعَضُدَيْنِ فِي الْوُضُوءِ إِذِ الْحِلْيَةُ تَبْلُغُ مَوَاضِعَ الْوُضُوءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِحُكْمِ النَّبِيِّ الْمُصْطَفَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Chapter on the recommendation to extend washing the arms in ablution, as the adornment will reach the places washed on the Day of Judgment
Hadith 7
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ، فَجَعَلَ يَبْلُغُ بِالْوَضُوءِ قَرِيبًا مِنْ إِبْطِهِ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الْحِلْيَةَ تَبْلُغُ مَوَاضِعَ الطُّهُورِ "
It is narrated from Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution, and he was letting the water reach up to his armpits. I asked him the reason for this, so he said: Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Verily, the adornment (of the believer) will reach up to the places touched by ablution." (That is why I am letting the water reach up to my armpits.)
