جماع أبواب ذكر الماء الذي لا ينجس، والذي ينجس إذا خالطته نجاسةChapters on Water that is Pure and Impure
(72) بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنِ اغْتِسَالِ الْجُنُبِ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ، بِلَفْظٍ عَامٍّ مُرَادُهُ خَاصٌّChapter 72: Prohibition of a person in major ritual impurity bathing in still water, with general wording
Hadith Q93
وَفِيهِ دَلِيلٌ عَلَى أَنَّ قَوْلَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الْمَاءُ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ "- لَفْظٌ عَامٌّ مُرَادُهُ خَاصٌّ عَلَى مَا بَيَّنْتُ قَبْلُ- أَرَادَ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي يَكُونُ قُلَّتَيْنِ فَصَاعِدًا
This is also evidence that the words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), "Nothing makes water impure," are general in wording but specific in meaning. As I have stated earlier, what he meant was the water that is two pitchers or more.
