Hadith 628

نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَضَعُ الْيَدَيْنِ قَبْلَ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ ، فَأُمِرْنَا بِالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْيَدَيْنِ "
Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we used to place both hands (on the ground) before the knees, then we were commanded to place both knees before both hands.
إِذْ كَانَ الْأَمْرُ بِوَضْعِ الْيَدَيْنِ قَبْلَ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ مُقَدَّمًا، وَالْأَمْرُ بِوَضْعِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْيَدَيْنِ مُؤَخَّرًا، فَالْمُقَدَّمُ مَنْسُوخٌ، وَالْمُؤَخَّرُ نَاسِخٌ‏.‏
When the instruction to place the hands before the knees was given earlier, and the instruction to place the knees before the hands was given later, then the earlier is abrogated, and the later is the abrogator.
