It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that previously, when people used to buy and sell in Mina, Arafah, and the market of Dhul-Majaz during the season of Hajj, then they became afraid that they were buying and selling while in the state of Ihram. So Allah Almighty revealed this verse « لَيْسَعَلَيْكُمْجُنَاحٌأَنتَبْتَغُوافَضْلًامِّنرَّبِّكُمْ »[ سورة البقرة : 198] "There is no sin upon you that you seek the bounty of your Lord (during Hajj)." Ubaid bin Umair narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to recite these words in the Qur'an along with the verse during the seasons of Hajj.
And the evidence that engaging in what Allah has permitted of seeking wealth from its lawful means during the days of the season, outside of the times in which a person is occupied from performing the rites, does not diminish the reward of the pilgrim, nor does it invalidate the Hajj, nor does it obligate upon him a sacrifice, nor fasting, nor charity.
