(33) بَابُ إِمَامَةِ الْمَوْلَى الْقُرَشِيِّ إِذَا كَانَ الْمَوْلَى أَكْثَرَ جَمْعًا لِلْقُرْآنِ.33| A freedman of Quraysh leading if he knows more Quran
Hadith Q1511
خَبَرُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَؤُمُّهُمْ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ دَلَالَةٌ عَلَى أَنَّ الْمَوْلَى إِذَا كَانَ أَقْرَأَ مِنَ الْقُرَشِيِّ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِالْإِمَامَةِ.
In this regard, the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "The one who is the best reciter of the Qur'an among them should lead the people in prayer," is evidence that a freed slave, if he is more proficient and skilled in reciting the Qur'an than a Qurayshi person, has a greater right to lead the prayer.
