Hadith 1473

نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، نَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، نَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ أَصْلُهُ مَدَنِيٌّ سَكَنَ الْكُوفَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ، كَانَ كَقِيَامِ نِصْفِ لَيْلَةٍ ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ كَانَ كَقِيَامِ لَيْلَةٍ "
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs the ‘Isha prayer in congregation, it is as if he has performed tahajjud for half the night. And whoever performs the Fajr prayer in congregation, it is as if he has performed tahajjud for the entire night."
وَالْبَيَانِ أَنَّ صَلَاةَ الْفَجْرِ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ، وَأَنَّ فَضْلَهَا فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ ضِعْفَيْ فَضْلِ الْعِشَاءِ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ
And the clarification that the Fajr prayer in congregation is superior to the Isha prayer in congregation, and that its virtue in congregation is twice the virtue of the Isha prayer in congregation.
