Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we kept traveling through the night until it was the time of suhoor before dawn. So we lay down to rest, and there is no sleep sweeter for a traveler than at that time (so we slept deeply). Then only the heat of the sun woke us up. The first to wake up was such-and-such person, then such-and-such, Abu Raja used to mention their names, and Awf also used to mention their names, and the fourth was Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). And when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would sleep, we would not wake him until he woke up himself, because we did not know what might be happening to him in his sleep (perhaps some command was being given, etc.). Then when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) woke up and saw the people's distress—and he was a man of loud voice, strong and powerful—he began to say "Allahu Akbar" in a loud voice. He kept raising his voice with takbir until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up from his voice. When he woke up, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of their distress (that they had missed the prayer). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm, or there is nothing to worry about. Move on." So the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) moved on from there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) traveled a little distance, then dismounted, asked for water, performed ablution, then had the adhan called, and led the people in prayer.
