Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Fajr prayer before the sun rises, he has caught the prayer, and whoever catches one rak'ah of the Asr prayer before the sun sets, he has caught (the complete) prayer." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that all the narrators' ahadith have the same meaning, and these words are from the narration of Darawardi. However, Abu Musa has narrated from Muhammad bin Ja'far in his hadith: "Whoever catches two rak'ahs of the Asr prayer (before the sun sets)."
