(371) بَابُ التَّغْلِيظِ فِي الْمُرَاءَاةِ بِتَزْيِينِ الصَّلَاةِ وَتَحْسِينِهَا371 Chapter: Severe Warning against Showing Off by Beautifying and Perfecting the Prayer.
Hadith 937
نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ يَعْنِي سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ حَبَّانَ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِيَّاكُمْ وَشِرْكَ السَّرَائِرِ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا شِرْكُ السَّرَائِرِ ؟ قَالَ : " يَقُومُ الرَّجُلُ فَيُصَلِّي فَيُزَيِّنُ صَلاتَهُ جَاهِدًا لِمَا يَرَى مِنْ نَظَرِ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ ، فَذَلِكَ شِرْكُ السَّرَائِرِ "
Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out (from his house) and said: "O people, beware of hidden and concealed shirk (polytheism)." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is hidden shirk?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When a person stands to pray and beautifies his prayer, and when he sees people looking at him, he puts extra effort and strives (in his prayer), then this is hidden and concealed shirk."
