(241) بَابُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ مَعَ الثَنَاءِ عَلَى اللَّهِ بَعْدَ السَّلَامِ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ.241 Chapter: Seeking Forgiveness along with Praising Allah after Salam from Prayer.
Hadith 738
نَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ الْمَكِّيُّ ، نا عَمْرُو بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَيْرُوتِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ مِنَ الصَّلاةِ اسْتَغْفَرَ ثَلاثًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلامُ ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلامُ ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجِلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ ، ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : وَإِنْ كَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، أَوْ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ لَمْ يَغْلَطْ فِي هَذِهِ اللَّفْظَةِ ، أَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ : قَبْلَ السَّلامِ ، فَإِنَّ هَذَا الْبَابَ يُرَدُّ إِلَى الدُّعَاءِ قَبْلَ السَّلامِ
The freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) intended to conclude the prayer with salam, he would seek forgiveness three times, then recite these words: « اللّهُـمَّ أَنْـتَ السَّلامُ وَمِـنْكَ السَّلام تَبارَكْتَ يا ذا الجَـلالِ وَالإِكْـرام » "O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that even though Amr bin Hashim or Muhammad bin Maymun did not err in narrating the wording of reciting this supplication before salam, this chapter will be referred to as reciting supplication before salam.
