(237) بَابُ إِبَاحَةِ الِاقْتِصَارِ عَلَى تَسْلِيمَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ،237 Chapter: Permissibility of Sufficing with One Salam in Prayer.
Hadith 729

وَالدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ تَسْلِيمَةً وَاحِدَةً تُجْزِئُ، وَهَذَا مِنِ اخْتِلَافِ الْمُبَاحِ، فَالْمُصَلِّي مُخَيَّرٌ بَيْنَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ تَسْلِيمَةً وَاحِدَةً وَبَيْنَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ تَسْلِيمَتَيْنِ كَمَذْهَبِ الْحِجَازِيِّينَ.
And the evidence that one tasleem is sufficient, and this is from the differences in what is permissible, so the one who is praying has the choice between giving one tasleem or giving two tasleems, as is the view of the people of Hijaz.
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْعَسْقَلانِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ الْعَطَّارُ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَكِّيِّ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُسَلِّمُ فِي الصَّلاةِ تَسْلِيمَةً وَاحِدَةً تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ يَمِيلُ إِلَى الشِّقِّ الأَيْمَنِ شَيْئًا " . قَالَ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ : قَالَ : أنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَكِّيُّ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), while in prayer, would incline slightly to his right side and turn his face (i.e., forward) to give the greeting of peace (salaam).
