(219) بَابُ التَّشَهُّدِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ وَفِي الْجِلْسَةِ الْأَخِيرَةِ.219 Chapter: Tashahhud in the Two Units and in the Final Sitting.
Hadith 703
نا بُنْدَارٌ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، نا الأَعْمَشُ ، نا شَقِيقٌ ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، نا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وَنا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، نا وَكِيعٌ ، وَابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَصِينِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا إِذَا جَلَسْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ ، قُلْنَا : السَّلامُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ، السَّلامُ عَلَى فُلانٍ وَفُلانٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَقُولُوا السَّلامُ عَلَى اللَّهِ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّلامُ ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا جَلَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَقُلِ : التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ ، وَالسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ ، السَّلامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ ، فَإِنَّكُمْ إِذَا قُلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ أَصَابَتْ كُلَّ عَبْدٍ صَالِحٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، ثُمَّ لِيَتَخَيَّرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ أَعْجَبَهُ إِلَيْهِ فَلْيَدْعُ بِهِ " . هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ بُنْدَارٍ ، وَانْتَهَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ ، وَعَبْثَرٍ ، وَابْنِ إِدْرِيسَ عِنْدَ قَوْلِهِ : وَرَسُولُهُ ، وَلَمْ يَقُولُوا : ثُمَّ لِيَتَخَيَّرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ إِلَى آخِرَهِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when we used to sit with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Tashahhud, we would say: "Peace be upon Allah from His servants, peace be upon so-and-so and so-and-so." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not say: 'Peace be upon Allah,' for Allah Himself is As-Salam (the Source of Peace). But when any one of you sits, let him say: « التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلّٰہِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ ّٰاللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ َّاللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ » 'All verbal, physical, and financial acts of worship are for Allah. O Prophet, peace be upon you, and the mercy and blessings of Allah. Peace be upon us and upon all the righteous servants of Allah.' For when you say these words, it will reach all the righteous servants of Allah in the heavens and the earth. « أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا َّاللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ » 'I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and Messenger.'" Then, whoever among you wishes to supplicate for something he likes, let him choose that supplication and ask with it. This is the narration of Bundar, while the narration of Ibn Fudayl, Abthar, and Ibn Idris ends at « وَرَسُولُهُ » "and His Messenger." They did not mention the words: "Then whoever among you wishes to choose a supplication he likes, let him do so."
