It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Fajr prayer, in the last rak‘ah, when he raised his blessed head from ruku‘, he recited « رَبَّنَاوَلَكَالحَمْدُ », then made this supplication: “O Allah, send curse upon such and such person.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invoked against some hypocrites, so Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: « لَيْسَلَكَمِنَالْأَمْرِشَيْءٌأَوْيَتُوبَعَلَيْهِمْأَوْيُعَذِّبَهُمْفَإِنَّهُمْظَالِمُونَ »[ سورة آل عمران ] “O Prophet, you have no authority in this matter; Allah may accept their repentance if He wills, or He may punish them, for indeed they are wrongdoers.”
