Hazrat Salim Al-Barrad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we presented ourselves before Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud and Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both). So we requested, “Please describe to us the (manner of) prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).” So they stood before us in the mosque (and began to demonstrate the prayer). They said « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ », then when they bowed (in ruku‘), they said « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ », and placed both their palms on both their knees. And they placed their fingers underneath them (on the upper part of the shin), then they distanced their elbows (from their sides), then (at the end) said, “We saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in this manner.”
