Explanation & Benefits

Benefits:
➊ The punishment of the grave is a reality; this is the doctrine of the people of truth, contrary to the Mu'tazilah.
➋ Human urine is impure, and in this hadith, there is a severe prohibition of tale-bearing and backbiting.
[نووي: 201/3]
➌ One should avoid clothes soiled with urine; this ruling also applies to impurity on clothes and the body, and it is obligatory to remove impurities. Furthermore, negligence regarding urine is a major cause of being afflicted with the punishment of the grave. It is narrated from Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
«أكْثَرُعَذَابِالْقَبْرِمِنَالْبَوْلِ»
"The majority of the punishment of the grave is due to urine."
➍ The cause of the reduction in punishment was not the branch itself, but rather, through it, the time was determined during which the punishment of those in the graves would be lessened.
