(100) بَابُ ذِكْرِ خَبَرٍ غَلِطَ فِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ مَنْ لَمْ يَتَبَحَّرْ بِالْعِلْمِ فَتَوَهَّمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَقْرَأُ بِ (بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ) فِي الصَّلَاةِ فِي فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَلَا فِي غَيْرِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ.Chapter 100: Report misunderstood by some as evidence that the Prophet did not recite "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim" in prayer
Hadith 494
نا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، نا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقْرَأُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : قَدْ خَرَّجْتُ طُرُقَ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ وَأَلْفَاظَهَا فِي كِتَابِ الصَّلاةِ ، كِتَابِ " الْكَبِيرُ " ، وَفِي مَعَانِي الْقُرْآنِ ، وَأَمْلَيْتُ مَسْأَلَةً قَدْرَ جُزْءَيْنِ فِي الاحْتِجَاجِ فِي هَذِهِ الْمَسْأَلَةِ أَنَّ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فِي أَوَائِلِ سُوَرِ الْقُرْآنِ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, and ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and I did not hear any of them reciting « بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ». Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I have mentioned the chains of narration and their wordings of this hadith in Kitab al-Salat, Kitab al-Kabir, and Ma‘ani al-Qur’an, and I have dictated proofs equal to two parts regarding the issue that « بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ » is a surah of the Book of Allah at the beginning of the surahs of the Noble Qur’an.
