Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that some land near the Prophet’s Mosque became vacant, so the Banu Salamah intended to move closer to the mosque. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was informed of their intention, he said: “O Banu Salamah, have you intended to move closer to the mosque?” They replied, “Yes.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Banu Salamah, remain in your homes; your footsteps are recorded.” (That is, the reward for walking to the mosque is written.) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this three times. I have explained the complete chapter on walking towards the mosques in the Book of Imamah.
