Hadith 435

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the people of Quba were praying facing towards Bayt al-Maqdis, when a person came to them and said: Indeed, the Qur’an has been revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he has turned his face towards the Noble Ka’bah, so you too should turn towards it. Thus, they turned towards the Ka’bah while remaining in their current state (of prayer). And in the narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), these words are mentioned: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commanded to turn his face towards the Noble Ka’bah.
