(64) بَابُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ أَخْذِ الْأَجْرِ عَلَى الْأَذَانِChapter 64: Prohibition of taking payment for calling the adhan
Hadith 423
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، نا هِشَامُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، نا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، عَلِّمْنِي الْقُرْآنَ وَاجْعَلْنِي إِمَامَ قَوْمِي ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " اقْتَدِ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ ، وَاتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى أَذَانِهِ أَجْرًا " . نا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، نا حَمَّادٌ ، نا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ : عَلِّمْنِي الْقُرْآنَ ، وَقَالَ : قَالَ : " أَنْتَ إِمَامُهُمْ وَاقْتَدِ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he says: I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me the Noble Qur'an and appoint me as the imam of my people." He says: Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "(You are their imam) lead the congregation considering the weakest and most vulnerable among them, and appoint as the mu'adhdhin (caller to prayer) someone who does not take wages for his adhan."
It is also narrated from Yazid Abu Al-Ala in a similar manner as the above narration, but in his narration, the words "teach me the Noble Qur'an" are not present, and he says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "(Rather) you are their imam. And recite considering the weakest among them."
