(54) بَابُ ذِكْرِ قَدْرِ مَا كَانَ بَيْنَ أَذَانِ بِلَالٍ وَأَذَانِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍChapter 54: The time between Bilal’s adhan and that of Ibn Umm Maktum
Hadith 403
نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، نا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِي اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ بِلالا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ ، فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُؤَذِّنَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ " ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَهُمَا إِلا قَدْرُ مَا يَرْقَى هَذَا وَيَنْزِلُ هَذَا
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gives the call to prayer at night, so you may continue eating and drinking (for the fast) until Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) gives the call to prayer. And the interval between these two calls to prayer was only as long as it took for this one to ascend (to give the call) and that one to descend."
