(41) بَابُ التَّرْجِيعِ فِي الْأَذَانِ مَعَ تَثْنِيَةِ الْإِقَامَةِ،Chapter 41: Repeating the adhan phrases and doubling the iqamah, with tarji‘ (repetition)
Hadith 378
نا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ مُؤَذِّنُ مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْعَدَهُ فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهِ الْأَذَانَ حَرْفًا حَرْفًا، قَالَ بِشْرٌ: قَالَ لِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ: هُوَ مِثْلُ أَذَانِنَا هَذَا، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَعِدْ عَلَيَّ، فَقَالَ: " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَ بِصَوْتٍ دُونَ ذَلِكَ الصَّوْتِ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَقَالَ: حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ مِنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ، إِنَّمَا رَوَاهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made him sit down and taught him the words of the adhan one by one. Bishr says that (my teacher) Ibrahim told me that it is just like our adhan. So I requested him to repeat (that adhan) for me, so he said: « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ » (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest) « أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ » (I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah) « أَشْهَدُ أَنْ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰه ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰه » (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah) « حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ » (Come to prayer, come to prayer) « حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ » (Come to success, come to success) « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ » "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest" « لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ » "There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Malik did not hear this hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him), rather he narrated this hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) through Abdullah bin Muhairiz.
