(424) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ الْعُمْرَةَ فَرْضٌ وَأَنَّهَا مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ كَالْحَجِّ سَوَاءً لَّا أَنَّهَا تَطَوُّعٌ غَيْرُ فَرِيضَةٍ عَلَى مَا قَالَ بَعْضُ الْعُلَمَاءِClarification that Umrah is obligatory and part of Islam, not just a voluntary act.
Hadith 3065
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ ، فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سُؤَالِ جِبْرِيلَ إِيَّاهُ عَنِ الإِسْلامِ ، فَقَالَ : " الإِسْلامُ : أَنْ تَشْهَدَ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَأَنْ تُقِيمَ الصَّلاةَ ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ ، وَتَحُجَّ وَتَعْتَمِرَ ، وَتَغْتَسِلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ ، وَأَنْ تُتِمَّ الْوُضُوءَ ، وَتَصُومَ رَمَضَانَ " ، قَالَ : فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ ، فَأَنَا مُسْلِمٌ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ : صَدَقْتَ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates a hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Jibreel (peace be upon him). In response to the question of Jibreel (peace be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam is that you bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. And that you establish prayer, pay zakat, perform Hajj and Umrah, perform ghusl due to major impurity, perform complete ablution, and fast in the blessed month of Ramadan." Jibreel (peace be upon him) asked, "If I do these things, will I be a Muslim?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes." He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said this.
