Hazrat A’mash says that I heard Hajjaj saying, “Do not say it like this, ‘Surah al-Baqarah,’ rather say it like this: ‘The Surah in which the cow is mentioned.’” I related this to Hazrat Ibrahim, so he said that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrated to me that he was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) when he threw pebbles at Jamrah Aqabah. He came to the middle of the valley, faced the Jamrah, and threw seven pebbles at it, and with each pebble he recited « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ». I said to him, “Some people climb this mountain.” He replied, “By Him besides whom there is no deity worthy of worship, I saw the Prophet Mustafa (peace and blessings be upon him), upon whom Surah al-Baqarah was revealed, throwing pebbles from this very place.” This is the narration of Durqi.
