Hadith 2873

وَالدَّلِيلُ عَلَى أَنَّ الرَّمْيَ بِالْحَصَى الْكِبَارِ مِنَ الْغُلُوِّ فِي الدِّينِ، وَتَخْوِيفِ الْهَلَاكِ بِالْغُلُوِّ فِي الدِّينِ
And the evidence that throwing large pebbles is from extremism in religion, and the warning of destruction due to extremism in religion.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ , قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ ، قَالَ : أَفَاضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا هَبَطَ بَطْنَ مُحَسِّرٍ ، قَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِحَصَى الْخَذْفِ " ، وَيُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ حَذْفَ الرَّجُلِ ، وَقَالَ هَارُونُ : عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ
Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) departed from Muzdalifah, and when he reached the middle of the Valley of Gathering, he said: "O people, it is obligatory upon you to throw small pebbles," and he was indicating with his hand, showing how a person holds a pebble between two fingers and throws it.
