Hazrat Ibn Rafi’ narrates that Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from Muzdalifah (towards Mina), I was riding behind him on the she-camel. A Bedouin was walking alongside you and asking you questions about religious matters. Behind him, his beautiful daughter was riding. Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I began to look at that girl, so the Messenger of Allah turned my face away with his hand. Then, you continued to recite the Talbiyah until you reached Jamrat al-‘Aqabah and performed the stoning. In the narration of Ibn Rafi’, it is mentioned that the Bedouin was walking alongside you or was asking you questions. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that it is narrated from Sakeen bin Abdul Aziz Basri, while I am free from responsibility for him and his father. He says that I heard my father say that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me that Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of ‘Arafah, so Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) began to look at the women, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to turn Sayyiduna Fadl’s (may Allah be pleased with him) face away from behind him with his blessed hand, but Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) (on the other side) began to look at the women. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O my nephew, indeed, whoever on this day guards his ears, eyes, and tongue, his sins will be forgiven.”
