(244) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ الْوُقُوفَ بِعَرَفَةَ مِنْ سُنَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَأَنَّهُ إِرْثٌ عَنْهُ، وَرَّثَهَا أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.Chapter: Explanation that standing at ‘Arafah is from the Sunnah of Ibrahim and inherited by the Ummah of Muhammad
Hadith 2818
ثنا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْتُهُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ وَهُوَ أَخْوَالُهُ ، قَالَ : " أَتَانَا ابْنُ مِرْبَعٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، وَنَحْنُ وُقُوفٌ بِعَرَفَةَ خَلْفَ الْمَوْقِفِ مَوْضِعٍ يَبْعُدُهُ عَمْرٌو عَنِ الْمَوْقِفِ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ "
Hazrat Yazid bin Shaiban narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Murabba’ Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us while we were staying behind the place of standing in the valley of Arafat. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) considered this place to be far from the Imam’s place of standing. So he (Ibn Murabba’) said: I am a messenger to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
