(240) بَابُ التَّهْجِيرِ بِالصَّلَاةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، وَتَرْكِ تَأْخِيرِ الصَّلَاةِ بِهَا.Chapter: Praying early on the Day of ‘Arafah and not delaying it
Hadith 2813
ثنا حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغَافِقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ سَالِمًا ، أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يُصَلِّي بِأَهْلِ مَكَّةَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُونَ فَيُتِمُّونَ صَلاتَهُمْ " . وَإِنَّ وَإِنَّ سَالِمًا ، قَالَ لِلْحَجَّاجِ عَامَ نَزَلَ بِابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ الْحَجَّاجُ ، فَكَلَّمَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَنْ يُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ ، قَالَ سَالِمٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْحَجَّاجِ: " إِنْ كُنْتَ تُرِيدُ السُّنَّةَ ، فَهَجِّرْ بِالصَّلاةِ فِي يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ " ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: " صَدَقَ ، وَإِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَجْمَعُونَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فِي السُّنَّةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ " ، فَقُلْتُ لِسَالِمٍ: أَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّتَهُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to lead the people of Makkah in two rak‘ahs and then would say salam, after which they would stand up and complete the remainder of their prayer. The year Hajjaj bin Yusuf came to Makkah Mukarramah to fight against Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Salim informed Hajjaj of some issues. He requested Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) to inform him how to perform the rites of Hajj at Arafat. Hazrat Salim says: I told him, “If you want to act upon the Sunnah of the Prophet, then on the day of Arafat, perform the prayer at its earliest time.” Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Salim has spoken the truth.” The Companions used to combine the Zuhr and Asr prayers on the day of Arafat and perform them according to the Sunnah. I asked Salim, “Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do this?” He replied, “Indeed, the Companions only followed the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).”
