(208) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ السَّعْيَ الَّذِي ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّهُ وَاجِبٌ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، وَسَعْيًا كَانَ أَوْ مَشْيًا بِسَكِينَةٍ وَتُؤَدَةٍChapter: Evidence that the obligatory sa‘i between Safa and Marwa can be done walking calmly or briskly
Hadith 2771
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: فَقَالَ: " إِنْ أَمْشِ ، فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي ، وَإِنْ أَسْعَ ، فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْعَى " .
Kuthair bin Jumhan narrates that I saw Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) walking at a normal pace between Safa and Marwah, so I said to him (that you are walking at a normal pace at the place where people usually run). He replied, "If I walk at a normal pace, then I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) walking at a normal pace. And if I run, then I have also seen the Messenger of Allah running."
