(212) بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي التَّيَمُّمِ لِلْمَجْدُورِ وَالْمَجْرُوحِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ الْمَاءُ مَوْجُودًا إِذَا خَافَ- إِنْ مَاسَّ الْمَاءُ الْبَدَنَ- التَّلَفَ أَوِ الْمَرَضَ أَوِ الْوَجَعَ الْمُؤْلِمَChapter 212: Permission for those with wounds or illness to perform tayammum even if water is present, if water would harm
Hadith 273
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ ، نا أَبِي ، أَخْبَرَنِي إِيَّاهُ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، أَنَّ عَطَاءً حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَجْنَبَ فِي شِتَاءٍ فَسَأَلَ ، فَأُمِرَ بِالْغُسْلِ ، فَاغْتَسَلَ فَمَاتَ ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا لَهُمْ ؟ قَتَلُوهُ قَتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ ، ثَلاثًا ، قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الصَّعِيدَ أَوِ التَّيَمُّمَ طَهُورًا " ، شَكَّ فِي ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، ثُمَّ أَثْبَتَهُ بَعْدُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man became junub (in a state requiring ritual bath) during winter, so he asked about the matter, and he was ordered to perform ghusl (ritual bath). (He performed ghusl) and then he died. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What happened to them? They killed him, may Allah kill them." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said three times: "Allah has made earth or tayammum a means of purification." There is doubt regarding Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) (whether he said 'earth' or 'tayammum'), then this doubt was removed.
