Some of those who do not distinguish between the general and the explained report may think that eating the meat of game for the muhrim, if it was hunted by a non-muhrim, is always absolutely permissible in every situation.
Abdur Rahman al-Taimi narrates that we were in the state of Ihram with Sayyiduna Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) when a bird was gifted to him while he was asleep, so some people ate its meat and some abstained from eating it. Then when Sayyiduna Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) woke up, he agreed with those who had eaten the meat and said: "We ate the meat of a bird with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while in the state of Ihram." These are the words of the narration of Duraqi. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding hunting, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved the action of the companions who ate the meat of that hunt and asked: "Do you have any of its meat with you?" Then, upon receiving the meat, he also ate it. That hadith is also related to this issue. The narration of Umayr bin Salamah al-Dhamiri is also related to this issue.
