ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ
عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ
الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَنَا بِالأَبْوَاءِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ مَعْمَرٍ : أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ ، فَأَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَرَدَّهُ إِلَيَّ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِي ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِرَادٍّ عَلَيْكَ ، وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ " ، وَفِي خَبَرِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجً ، قُلْتُ لابْنِ شِهَابٍ : الْحِمَارُ عَقِيرٌ ؟ قَالَ : لا أَدْرِي ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فِي مَسْأَلَةِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ الزُّهْرِيَّ وَإِجَابَتِهِ إِيَّاهُ دَلالَةٌ عَلَى أَنَّ مَنْ قَالَ فِي خَبَرِ الصَّعْبِ : أَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ لَحْمَ حِمَارٍ ، أَوْ رِجْلَ حِمَارٍ وَاهِمٌ فِيهِ ، إِذِ الزُّهْرِيُّ قَدْ أَعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ لا يَدْرِي الْحِمَارَ كَانَ عَقِيرًا أَمْ لا حِينَ أُهْدِيَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ وَكَيْفَ يُرْوَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُهْدِيَ لَهُ لَحْمُ حِمَارٍ أَوْ رِجْلُ حِمَارٍ ، وَهُوَ لا يَدْرِي كَانَ الْحِمَارُ الْمُهْدَى إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَقِيرًا أَمْ لا ؟ قَدْ خَرَّجْتُ أَلْفَاظَ هَذَا الْخَبَرِ فِي كِتَابِ الْكَبِيرِ ، مَنْ قَالَ فِي الْخَبَرِ : أَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ لَحْمَ حِمَارٍ ، أَوْ قَالَ رِجْلَ حِمَارٍ ، أَوْ قَالَ حِمَارًا
Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed by me while I was at the place of Waddan or Abwa. I presented him with the hunt of a wild donkey, but he did not accept it. Then, when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw signs of grief and sorrow on my face, he (to console me) said: "We did not return your gift out of anger, but the only reason is that we are in the state of Ihram and this game is not lawful for us." In the narration of Janab Jurayj, it is mentioned that I asked Imam Ibn Shihab Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), was the donkey slaughtered? He replied: I do not know. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this question of Imam Ibn Jurayj and this answer of Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on them) is proof that those narrators who have narrated these words in the narration of Sayyiduna Mus'ab (may Allah be pleased with him) that I presented the meat of a wild donkey to the Prophet (peace be upon him), or presented the thigh of a wild donkey, then this is a misunderstanding of those narrators. Because Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) has stated that he does not know whether the donkey that was presented to the Prophet (peace be upon him) was slaughtered or not. So how is it possible that they narrate that the meat or the thigh of a wild donkey was presented to the Prophet (peace be upon him), when they do not even know whether the wild donkey presented to the Prophet (peace be upon him) was slaughtered or not? I have mentioned the different chains of this narration in Kitab al-Kabir. Those narrators who have stated these words that I presented the meat of a wild donkey to the Prophet (peace be upon him), or those who said that the thigh of the donkey was given as a gift, or those who narrated that a wild donkey was presented, I have mentioned all these narrations.
