Hadith 2594
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : أَتَيْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنْ حَجَّةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : وَلَدَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ ؟ قَالَ : " اغْتَسِلِي وَاسْتَثْفِرِي ، ثُمَّ أَهِلِّي " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فِي قَوْلِهِ : وَاسْتَثْفِرِي دَلالَةٌ عَلَى أَنَّ دَمَ النِّفَاسِ كَانَ غَيْرُ مُنْقَطِعٍ
Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that we went to Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, and we asked him about the Hajj of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him (how he performed Hajj). He said: (We were still at Dhu’l-Hulayfah) when Asma bint Umays gave birth to Muhammad, the son of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. She sent someone to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to ask what she should do. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Perform ghusl (ritual bath), put on a cloth (to absorb the blood), then enter into ihram." Imam Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, said: In his statement "put on a cloth," there is evidence that the bleeding of nifas (postnatal bleeding) had not yet stopped.
