(31) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ تَأْمِيرِ الْمُسَافِرِينَ أَحَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ، وَالْبَيَانُ أَنَّ أَحَقَّهُمْ بِذَلِكَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ جَمْعًا لِلْقُرْآنِ31 Subchapter: Recommending travelers appoint a leader, preferably the most versed in Quran
Hadith 2541
حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عُمَرُ : " إِذَا كَانَ نَفَرٌ ثَلاثٌ فَلْيُؤَمِّرُوا أَحَدَهُمْ ، ذَاكَ أَمِيرٌ أَمَّرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that when there is a group of three people, they should appoint one of them as their leader. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to appoint leaders for people in this manner.
