جماع أبواب الصدقات والمحبساتChapters on Charitable Endowments
(185) بَابُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَنِ الْمَيِّتِ إِذَا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْ غَيْرِ [وَصِيَّةٍ، وَانْتِفَاعِ] الْمَيِّتِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ بِهَا185 Subchapter: Charity for the deceased if he dies without a will, and his benefit from it in the Hereafter
Hadith 2502
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْقَزَّازُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ أُمَّهُ تُوُفِّيَتْ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهِ عَنْهَا ؟ وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ ، وَقَالَ : فَإِنَّ لِي مَخْرَفًا يَعْنِي : بُسْتَانًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "My mother has passed away. If I give charity on her behalf, will she benefit from it?" The wording of the narration of Ahmad bin Mani’ is as follows: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), my mother has passed away and I have a date orchard."
