(181) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ أَجْرَ الصَّدَقَةِ الْمُحْبَسَةِ يُكْتَبُ لِلْمُحْبِسِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ مَا دَامَتِ الصَّدَقَةُ جَارِيَةً181 Subchapter: The reward of endowment charity continues for the endower after death as long as it remains
Hadith 2494
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا مَاتَ الإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ إِلا مِنْ ثَلاثٍ : صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ ، أَوْ عَمَلٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ ، أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity, knowledge from which people benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him."
