(168) بَابُ كَرَاهِيَةِ مَنْعِ الصَّدَقَةِ إِذْ مَانِعُهَا مَانِعُ اسْتِقْرَاضِ رَبِّهِ168 Subchapter: Dislike of withholding charity, as the withholder is like one refusing to lend to his Lord
Hadith 2479
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَاشِمٍ زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : " اسْتَقْرَضْتُ عَبْدِي فَلَمْ يُقْرِضْنِي ، وَشَتَمَنِي عَبْدِي ، وَهُوَ لا يَدْرِي يَقُولُ : وَادَهْرَاهُ وَادَهْرَاهُ ، وَأَنَا الدَّهْرُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : قَوْلُهُ : وَأَنَا الدَّهْرُ ، أَيْ وَأَنَا آتِي بِالدَّهْرِ أُقَلِّبُ لَيْلَهُ وَنَهَارَهُ ، أَيْ بِالرَّخَاءِ وَالشِّدَّةِ ، كَيْفَ شِئْتُ إِذْ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْكُفْرِ زَعَمَ أَنَّ الدَّهْرَ يُهْلِكُهُمْ ، قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حِكَايَةً عَنْهُمْ : وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلا الدَّهْرُ سورة الجاثية آية 24 ، فَأَعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ لا عِلْمَ لَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ ، وَأَنَّ مَقَالَتَهُمْ تِلْكَ ظَنٌّ مِنْهُمْ ، قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : وَمَا لَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلا يَظُنُّونَ سورة الجاثية آية 24 ، وَأَخْبَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ شَاتِمَ مَنْ يُهْلِكُهُمْ هُوَ شَاتِمٌ رَبَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَزَّ ، لأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ الدَّهْرَ يُهْلِكُهُمْ فَيَشْتُمُونَ مُهْلِكَهُمْ ، وَاللَّهُ يُهْلِكُهُمْ لا الدَّهْرُ ، فَكُلُّ كَافِرٍ يَشْتِمُ مُهْلِكَهُ ، فَإِنَّمَا تَقَعُ الشَّتِيمَةُ مِنْهُمْ عَنْ خَالِقِهِمُ الَّذِي يُهْلِكُهُمْ ، لا عَلَى الدَّهْرِ الَّذِي لا فِعْلَ لَهُ ، إِذِ اللَّهُ خَالِقُ الدَّهْرَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Allah Almighty says: I asked my servant for a loan, but he did not give me a loan. And my servant abused me while he does not know; he says, 'Alas, the ruin of time! Alas, the destruction of time!' Whereas I am time." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the meaning of Allah Almighty's statement "I am time" is that I am the one who alternates the days and nights of time, sometimes creating prosperity and sometimes hardship as I will. Whereas some disbelievers believe that time destroys them. Allah Almighty has mentioned their statement, saying (they say): "And nothing destroys us except time." Allah Almighty has informed that they have no knowledge of this, and their statement is merely conjecture and assumption. Allah Almighty says, "And they have no knowledge of this; they only guess." And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has made it clear that their cursing of time is cursing Allah Almighty, because they believe that time destroys them, so they curse the destroyer, whereas the one who destroys and ruins is Allah, not time. Therefore, every disbeliever who curses his destroyer, his curse returns to his Master who destroyed him. Their curse does not reach time, because it has no role in their destruction, for the Creator of time is also Allah Almighty.
