(142) بَابُ التَّغْلِيظِ فِي مَسْأَلَةِ الْغَنِيِّ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ142 Subchapter: Severe warning against the rich asking for charity
Hadith 2446
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَزِيدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ الطَّائِيُّ , قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُبْشِيُّ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ السَّلُولِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ وَلَهُ مَا يُغْنِيهِ ، فَإِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُ الْجَمْرَ " ، وَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ : " مَنْ سَأَلَ مِنْ غَيْرِ فَقْرٍ ، فَإِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُ الْجَمْرَ "
Sayyiduna Hubshi bin Junadah Sululi رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever begs while possessing sufficient wealth, then indeed he is eating embers of fire." In the narration of Janab Zaid bin Akhzam, it is stated: "Whoever begs without being in need, then surely he is eating embers of Hell."
